Your work begins with your words. Before you build a jar, dress a candle, or call something into your life, you need to know how to name your intention and give it direction. The Petition & Candle Work Intensive teaches those foundations in one focused, six-hour class.
We begin with petition writing: how to say what you mean, choose words that match your intention, and prepare a petition for spiritual work. Then we move into candle work, where you’ll learn how to select a candle, prepare it with oils and herbs, and work it alongside your petition. You’ll see how each choice connects to the purpose of the ritual, so you can approach your work with understanding and confidence.
Your ritual box is included with the class. It contains the petition paper, candles, and working supplies you’ll use during the intensive. You’ll learn with your hands as well as your notes, putting the lessons into practice with the materials in front of you.
The experience concludes with a private guided ritual and graduation. This is your opportunity to bring what you’ve learned together in a complete working before moving into the next level of study.
Completing this intensive fulfills the prerequisite for Container Conjure 103, our four-week October class for Hoodoo Heritage Month. In Container Conjure, we build on your petition and candle foundations as we study sweetening jars, sour jars, and the care of an ongoing working.
Beyond the classroom
Your path with Black Girl Conjure can continue inside the Haus of Black Girl Conjure. Coven students receive access to a learning community, ongoing ritual opportunities, and guidance as they develop their practice.
